A weekend built for young cattle exhibitors in Oxford, NS. Showmanship, conformation, sales talk, a farm advertisement contest, our first-ever Cow Costume Parade and more โ€” all working toward the Champion & Reserve Champion Aggregate.

Completed forms and the $25 registration fee are due no later than August 10, 2026 so your show t-shirt arrives before the fair. No late entries will be accepted.

Competitions

Juniors take part across the weekend. To be eligible for the Champion & Reserve Champion Aggregate awards, members must participate in all competitions (the Cow Costume Parade is optional). Full details are in the show package.

One photo per member, taken by the junior, representing the farming and show industry in the Maritimes.

Due Thu, Sept 3 ยท Noon

Design an ad for your farm (real or imaginary) on 8ยฝร—11 paper โ€” include farm name, owner, address, phone and email. Hand-drawn or computer-generated.

Composition 30% ยท Originality 30% ยท Creativity 20% ยท Professional Appearance 20%.

Thu Evening ยท Barn

Market your animal to the judge (announced day-of โ€” it's up to you to find them). Use photos, registration papers, EPDs, etc. No time limit. Dress in Western attire.

Knowledge 50% ยท Relaying information 25% ยท Poise & delivery 25%.

Test your eye for cattle in the junior judging competition โ€” one of the events counting toward Aggregate.

During Showmanship

Members are judged on the presentation of their animal. Juniors must prepare their own animal for the show ring.

Juniors show one animal. Order: bull calves, prospect steers, heifer calves, yearlings.

Fri, Sept 4 ยท Before Horse Pulls

Every participating member brings an item to auction off, raising money for next year's show. You must be present to auction your own item to qualify for Aggregate.

Conformation Classes

Juniors may show one animal only.

Class 1Bull calf โ€” born in the current year (min. 3 months of age on judging day)
Class 2Heifer calf โ€” born in the current year (min. 3 months of age on judging day)
Class 3Yearling heifer โ€” born in the previous year
Class 4Inclusion Class โ€” for individuals of all abilities who need as much or as little support in the show ring

Champion & Reserve Champion Aggregate

  • Members must take part in all competitions to be eligible for the Aggregate awards
  • You must be present to auction your own item at the Junior Auction to qualify
  • The Cow Costume Parade is optional and does not affect eligibility
  • Every junior receives a show t-shirt (required for showmanship) โ€” order your size on the entry form
